Hey there! As a new contributor I just wanted to do a little "contributing", so here's a topic for discussion!

What do you think makes you an Alternative Christian? By definition, we are Christians who may not exactly fit the mold of our fellow Christ-lovers, so comment and tell us all what you think makes you different! :D

For me, being an alternative Christian is the personal choice of being Christian, despite much of contemporary Christianity not regarding you as such.

In an ideal world, there would not be a need for the term 'alternative Christian.' Because truly, there are only two kinds of people: Those who believe in Christ the Son as our savior, and do their best to follow in His footsteps, and those who do not.

When you read the Epistles of Paul, you recognize something: most of Paul's efforts are focused on solving some sort of conflict WITHIN the church. He's attempting to prevent schisms and sectarianism. Paul doesn't want us to judge or condemn or reject each other. He wants us to be in harmony with one another, acknowledging that we are all trying to live by the Spirit as best we can, not 'slamming the doors to the Kingdom in front of each other.'

To be an alternative Christian is to face the rejection of humans, yet still keeping one's faith in God, entrusting Him to lead us along the path laid out for us. Nothing- Not shame or closets or fear, not hatred or rejection or church doctrine- will be enough to stop God's love for each and every one of us!

Amen!
